S3010A Radial Insertion Machine — 12,000 CPH on tape-packed radials, without an OEM badge. The S3010A is a servo-driven radial component auto insertion machine built in Shenzhen for EMS and THT assembly lines. It sequences and inserts tape-packed radial leads - capacitors, transistors, LEDs, key switches, resistors, connectors and fuse blocks - at a rated 12,000 CPH (10,000 CPH actual speed) with 1000 ppm reliability, on boards from 50 x 50 mm up to 400 x 400 mm, with lead spans from 2.5 mm to 10.0 mm including 3.5 mm.

How the S3010A runs a board
- Rack in — A magazine rack holding up to 50 boards is placed on the loader; boards are then transported to the S3010A automatically.
- Program — Coordinates are imported from Gerber/Excel or taught visually; the operator picks component, pitch, direction and clinch per point.
- Verify — Before the head descends, the vision system checks component value and polarity and corrects coordinates against the machine vision system.
- Insert and clinch — The servo-driven 13.0 mm head places the part, the cutter trims the lead, and the N-type clinch base bends it at the programmed height and angle.
- Rack out — Each completed board moves to the unloader; when 50 boards have accumulated the full rack ejects automatically and the empty rack is exchanged by the operator.

S3010A against the S-3010B: where the two actually differ
These two machines get confused constantly - our own website had it wrong until 2026-09-29, when the S-3010B page was corrected against its own specification sheet. The difference is not speed alone; it is the working envelope, the feeder count and how the board is handled. S3010A column from the S3010A datasheet page 3; S-3010B column from the S-3010B specification sheet.

Pick the S3010A when boards stay at or under 400 x 400 mm and you want the wider published span range, the value-and-polarity check and an English interface. Pick the S-3010B when a panel is longer than the S3010A table, or when 14 feeders removes a second station.
Which configuration you need
Span mix decides the tooling
Count the distinct lead spans on your boards. If everything is 2.5 / 5.0 mm, triple-span tooling is enough. If a board carries 2.5 / 5.0 / 7.5 / 10.0 mm together, specify quad-span tooling so all four insert in one program; 3.5 mm is inside the standard range.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.2
Feeder count decides the sequencer layout
The machine base carries 10 feeders and scales from 10 to 100 inputs. Choose In-Line when the inserter sits in a conveyor line, Straight-Back when operators load and unload beside the machine. Count parts per board type, not parts per product, before you commit.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.1
Board flow decides whether you need the loader
Manual load is the lower capital option and suits short runs. In-line PCB load/unload with the 50-board magazine rack suits volume and lights-out working; the loader and unloader track matches the machine height and the width is adjustable.
Source: Automation solution doc
Co-located SMC components decide the clinch option
Where surface-mount parts share the board, take the multiple clinch options with programmable height so the clinch stroke cannot crush them. Clinch length 1.5 - 2.2 mm and angle 10 - 35 degrees stay adjustable on the machine.

Work out the payback with your own numbers
We do not publish a payback figure for someone else's line, because the honest answer depends on your wage rate, your part count and your shift pattern. This is the arithmetic we run with customers - send us the six inputs and we will send back the completed sheet.
| Step | Formula |
|---|---|
| Insertion work released per board | manual_seconds_per_component x components_per_board / 3600 = hours per board |
| Labour released per shift | hours_per_board x boards_per_shift x takeover_share = operator-hours released |
| Labour cost avoided per year | operator_hours_released x shifts_per_day x working_days x wage_per_hour |
| Consumables and scrap avoided | rework_rate_before - rework_rate_after, priced at your board value |
| Payback period | machine_price / labour_cost_avoided_per_year = years (report in months) |
| Second-order effect | span-mix changeover time removed x changeovers per week |
Every figure on this page is a datasheet or document value, not an estimate. Throughput claims are quoted as published: 12,000 CPH rated and 10,000 CPH actual speed. Any payback number you see elsewhere for this machine is only as good as the wage and volume assumptions behind it.

Questions this machine always raises
What is the S3010A?
A servo-driven radial component auto insertion machine. It sequences and inserts tape-packed radial lead components into PCBs from 50 x 50 mm up to 400 x 400 mm, then trims and clinches the leads, replacing manual radial insertion stations on a THT line.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.3 spec table
How fast is it, honestly?
The datasheet states 12,000 CPH as high real throughput and 1000 ppm reliability. The machine specification table lists 12,000 CPH with an actual speed of 10,000 CPH. We publish both numbers because the sustained figure is the one your line plan should use.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.3 spec table
Which components will it insert?
Standard tape-packed radial leads up to 22 mm tall with no derate: capacitors, transistors, LED lights, key switches, resistors, adjustable resistors, varistors and MOVs, connectors, tabs and clips, and fuse blocks. Tape pitches covered are 12.7, 25.4, 15.0 and 30.0 mm.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.3 spec table
What lead spans does it handle?
The full range from 2.5 mm to 10.0 mm including 3.5 mm. Tooling is available as single, dual, triple or quad-span; with quad-span tooling, 2.5 / 5.0 / 7.5 / 10.0 mm components insert at the same time.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.1
Can it run alongside surface-mount components on the same board?
Yes, with care. The S3010A offers multiple clinch options with programmable height specifically to avoid damaging SMC components on the board. Clinch length is adjustable from 1.5 to 2.2 mm and clinch angle from 10 to 35 degrees.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.1
How long does it take to program a new PCB?
The datasheet states that the camera visual operating system lets an operator finish a new PCB insertion program within 5 minutes. Coordinates come in from Gerber or Excel over USB, or are taught visually.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.2
Does it need an operator to load boards?
Either way. Manual load is standard; automatic in-line PCB load and unload is available for boards up to 400 x 400 mm, with a magazine rack holding 50 boards and automatic empty-rack exchange.
Source: Automation solution doc
How many feeders does it take?
The core machine is specified with 10 feeders and scales from 10 to 100 inputs, in either an In-Line or a Straight-Back layout.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.1
What are the utility requirements?
AC 220 V single phase at 50/60 Hz, and compressed air at 0.6 MPa delivering 0.3 m3/min. The core machine occupies 1800 x 1600 x 1800 mm and weighs 1000 kg.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.3 spec table
Will my existing UIC spares and feeders work on it?
The machine is specified as compatible with UIC parts: insertion head, clinch base, CTA, carriers and feeders. Send us your part numbers and we will confirm the interface before you order.
Source: S3010A datasheet, p.2
What does after-sales cover?
Worldwide support, free installation and training, a 1 day spare-parts lead time and a 1 month customised solution turnaround, as published in the automation solution document.
Source: Automation solution doc
Why is the ambient temperature stated twice?
Because our own documents disagree and we would rather show you both. The datasheet specification table says 10 - 35 degrees C; the 2022 operation manual says 5 - 25 degrees C with 20 - 95 % relative humidity. Confirm the figure for your shop with us before installation.
